Minnesota Family Vacations

The family vacations every year seem to get shorter and shorter. I know i have not taken a week off in along time. The main reason most people try and shorten their vacation is the money. So a weeks long vacation is very affordable here since you do not have to worry about eating out because all our cabins have full kitchens. Then for family fun the resort has all the activities from kayaks, canoes, paddle boats and swimming pool which are free. This is just a small list of what we offer on our resort for the family to experience. Take some time and explore our web site and see if there is something that really will make your  vacation something you will remember for a quite awhile.  http://www.whitebirchresort.net/

Bemidji resort Adds Private Hot Tub Rental

We have plans to build a commercial hot tub in this next luxury home. I do not know of any other resort that offers private commercial hot tub to only the guests staying in this cabin. The idea of having a hot tub is not a new idea we came up with. A lot of states allow commercial lodging to have above ground or portable tubs but Minnesota banned them in 2004. So we have taken the jump to try an get people who want to enjoy the out door hot tub to reserve in the cabin that has this. Check out more on our web site at  http://www.whitebirchresort.net/cabin02.aspx

2011 Minnesota Governers Opener

Wells Fargo on board for Governor’s Fishing Opener

Wells Fargo has donated $10,000 to the upcoming Governor's Fishing Opener. The bank is also donating $2,000 in product. "We are happy to support this event and help bring it to our community," said Eric Barth, Wells Fargo business relations manager. "This will be great promotion for the city of Grand Rapids and the surrounding communities." The 2011 opener is the 63rd governor's opener since it was established in 1948 and the third time Grand Rapids has hosted the event. The event was designed to improve Minnesota's economy through the development and promotion of the state's recreational opportunities, especially fishing. The Fishing Opener is May 13 and 14, 2011 and will be based at Ruttger's Sugar Lake Lodge, with fishing on Pokegama Lake and other area lakes. Sponsorship categories for the Governor's Fishing Opener range from less than $500 to more than $20,000. Donations can be cash, in-kind and/or fishing-related products. To participate, contact Sponsorship Chair Steve Arbour at 327-1270, 259-2014 or arbour1974@msn.com; or visit the Governor's Fishing Opener website for more information at http://www.mngovernorsopener.com/.

The truth about vacations in MN during the winter

The winter is a great time to take the family on a getaway to Minnesota. Here on the resort we offer ice houses free with each cabin rental. There is also a sledding hill on the resort for your kids to enjoy. The idea of sitting around a nice fire enjoying the stories of along ago. The ice fishing is always great for someone who has never been fishing before since you can sit and watch the fish thru the hole in the ice. Everybody seems to enjoy this at least for a while. We are close to Buena Vista ski area as well if you want to try some down hill skiing or tubing, which is a blast with the whole family. visit www.whitebirchresort.net for more information

Winter Activites

The activities in the winter do change quite a bit in the winter. You do have to like the outdoors more in the winter and be capable of standing the cold elements. The biggest thing we do in the winter is ice fish here on Blackduck lake which is the 2nd busiest lake in the winter in Beltrami county. We have solid wood ice houses so we do get spoiled when it comes to staying warm, since they do keep you warmer then portables. We do a lot of sledding on our resort hill as well. The hill we have is not really big, but it does just fine for someone like me who likes going down but not walking back up. There is a tubing and ski area close to our resort and we usually go there a few times a year which is fun.

The ice skating here is a fun activity as well but i do not do this, this is for the younger kids since the ice really hurts when you fall. I do like to go on hikes in the snow since the snow really makes the woods so quite. Sometimes you do need snowshoes but usually i will go on a trail that is traveled somewhat so it is easier.
