Ice Fishing Safety

To check the thickness i always do it myself and do not rely on here say. I do start where it is shallow and keep going until it starts getting to thin. I will not go out very deep which means over my head until it gets 5" or over. You can walk safely on good 4" ice a that is a rule of thumb.

If you can goo ice fishing when it is just forming this is the best time since all of the fish go like gang busters for a couple weeks. Even the walleye come in to eat which is pretty cool to see since they are 5 feet away and you can watch their actions. Visit our web site to keep informed on what the ice conditions are.
